About Katz's Deli & Bar

Katz's Deli & Bar has been an Austin institution since it first opened its doors in 1979. Since that day, Austin has come to rely on Katz's unique style and great food.

When Katz's started, its extensive menu of New York deli classics and traditional Jewish kosher-style cuisine was on the cutting edge of Austin's ethnic-cuisine market.

In 1983, Katz's introduced its 24/7 Katz's Never Kloses operating format, becoming a staple of the late night dining scene. Once again, Katz's was one step ahead of the Austin restaurant scene.

A magnet for theater-goers and night owls of all kinds, Katz's fostered its own fast-paced version of New York deli culture throughout the 1980's, growing and expanding to accomdate the resteraunt's growing popularity.

About Marc Katz

Through savvy use of radio and TV advertising, as well as media publicity, Marc Katz, owner and founder of Katz's Deli & Bar, has built a reputation for the business that stretches far outside of Austin.

But Katz's is about more than profit and publicity. During the restaurant's long life, Marc Katz has been an avid supporter of fundraisers and benefits, helping to raise thousands of dollars for causes of all kinds, including AIDS awareness, education, the arts, music, and public safety.

For all that Katz's represents to Austin's restaurant community, its greatest accomplishment lies in the area of community involvement.

Marc Katz's is famous for saying, “We keep what we have by giving it away,” meaning that civic involvement plays a crucial role in the success of Katz's Deli.

Finding imaginative, exciting ways to give back to the community is Marc Katz's most revolutionary role as one of the top restaurateurs not only in Austin, but throughout the country.
