Writing

I consider creative writing to be a major hobby of mine.

At about the age of 14 or 15, I began to write a series of short stories that modernized classic fairy tales with one big twist. Instead of the lead character being a woman in peril who is eventually saved by a man , I decided to switch the gender roles, making the male character the one who needs saving.
After the release of the 2004 film Troy, I became increasingly fascinated with the story of the Trojan war. Many of the characters involved in the legend are undefined and seem to have un-definable motivations. This ended up with me beginning to write a novel about Achilles, the Greek warrior who, aside from Helen and Oddyseus, is perhaps the most well-known Homeric character. More on Achilles
For the past two summers, I have written scripts for plays that campers ages 6-8 perform.
Another idea I have been trying to work out in my head for a while is for a play about the inner-workings of a college theater department. Many of the people that I have encountered in the theater program here would make for some very good characters.
