The Dallas
Cowboys battled out the Miami Dolphins
in Super
Bowl VI. They were lead by the talented
Tom
Landry. This was the Cowboy’s second Super Bowl appearance. The
Dolphins were lead by Coach Don Shula,
who was making a Super Bowl debut.
Although a much anticipated match, the entire game was dominated
by the
Cowboys. The first mistake of the match
was committed by Miami Dolphins running back Larry Csonka, who fumbled
the ball
that was recovered by Chuck Howley. The
Cowboys turned that turnover into 3 points.
After the ferocious Dallas defense shut down the Dolphins running game,
Roger Staubach completed a
touchdown
pass to Lance Alworth. A Miami
field goal ended the first half at 10-3.

game.
After receiving the ball for the second half, the high powered Dallas
offense drove the ball 71-yards ending with a Duane Thomas rushing
touchdown. Late in the game, Howley
intercepted a pass from Bob Griese and ran it to the Dolphins
9-yard line. Three plays later, Roger Staubach threw
a 7 yard touchdown pass to Mike Dikta to make the final score 24-3. The
Cowboys had won their first world championship and they became the
first team to prevent a touchdown in a Super Bowl game.
Staughback completed 12 of 19 for 119 yards and two touchdowns and was
voted Super Bowl VI MVP.
